Who Built This?
CleanStopwatch is operated by an independent solo developer. I built it because every online timer I tried was either covered in tracking scripts, demanded an account, or looked a decade out of date. I wanted something that just worked.
There is no team, no VC funding, and no marketing budget. I write the code, answer support emails personally, and pay hosting out of pocket. One person, focused on making one tool genuinely reliable.
Every feature, from the drift-corrected timer engine to the theme system, is designed and built by hand for a job where accuracy matters.
The Privacy Rule
I do not collect your data, track your history, or log what you time. Your settings and presets stay on your own machine in localStorage. Nothing is sent to a server unless you explicitly sync presets with a Pro license key.
Ads via Google AdSense help cover hosting and may place cookies under their policy. Beyond that: zero tracking scripts, zero analytics spyware, zero fingerprinting. If you buy Pro, payment details go to Polar, our Merchant of Record — we never see or store your card details. Full details in the Privacy Policy.

The core stopwatch, timers, countdowns, and starter themes are free forever. Pro unlocks premium themes, premium alarm sounds, advanced progress indicators, custom accent colors and fonts, ad removal, and preset syncing across devices via your license key.
How Pro billing works:Pro is a recurring subscription (not a one-time purchase). Checkout, VAT and sales tax, invoices, refunds under Polar's default refund policy, and chargebacks are handled by Polar, our Merchant of Record. Your license key is validated in real time against Polar servers. Each license is single-user: one purchaser per license key. We never touch your payment details. This direct-support model pays for servers, the Polar checkout and license infrastructure, and ongoing development — without selling data or gating essential timing features.

What Makes It Different
Most online timers are lightweight but ugly, or feature-rich but bloated with trackers and sign-up walls. CleanStopwatch takes a third path — useful features in a design that respects your attention.
The engine uses a drift-corrected requestAnimationFrame loop that stays accurate even when tabs throttle or background. Alarm sounds are synthesized with the Web Audio API, so there are zero audio files to load. Themes are pure CSS with canvas backgrounds that pause when hidden to save battery.
Embeds are lightweight iframe snippets that load fast with no external runtime dependencies.
